About Driving to meet a friend one evening, I came across this field of poppies and noticed the cloud formation above the tree. I swerved the car into the hedgerow, grabbed my gear, set up the tripod, adjusted the polarising filter (which has to be done with the polariser held up to the eye with my rangefinder camera) and captured the moment before driving calmly on, content in the knowledge that I'd stumbled across and captured a beautiful scene.

Excellent photo. It looks like a painting.

Tony, sounds pretty scary! I agree about the tree getting mixed up in the dark line and it may have been better to somehow differentiate it although I'm not sure the overall composition would have been as harmonious.

Lovely sky and field of opium poppies, lucky you weren't arrested! Not joking, last summer I was doing some macro shots of these beautiful flowers and a guard appeared. After driving his landrover at top speed towards me he then jumped out holding a rifle! In the end he was friendly and took an interest in what I was doing.
I think I would have given this shot a little more foreground and placed that tree a little further to the right. The problem with the tree is that it does get a bit lost in the dark line of trees behind, don't you think?Anyway, keep up the good work,I keep returning to your portfolio, there are so many excellent photos to enjoy.
Regards,Tony

What I like the most, what makes it stand out is the interrelation of sky and ground lines and structures. Very beautiful natural colors, well exposed and very well balanced the sky to ground ratio and the placement of the tree.

A lovely shot. Beautiful colours and I love the position of that one tree in this composition.
Very well done.

You sure did a great job with this scene, Barry. Very nice work! Lovely patterns of poppies, and the clouds really add nice atmosphere to the image.
