A very nice sunset indeed, Jim! I like the way you kept some detail in the foreground.

Beautiful sunset James, the colors are wonderful, and a very nice perspective, I actually like the nice pastel looking sky and clouds, I know a more vivid colorful sky would also look good, but this is nice....

Thanks, Jim. I never thought of using a pol. for that...will have to try it sometime!

Thanks Lea, being from this area, you know how washed out and bright white our summer skys can be. The polorizer helped me by darkening the sky a bit, give it a touch of blue and keep me from totally blowing out the sky. That way I could also bring out a little more detail in the foreground. Had I had a graduated ND filter I could of accomplished almost the same thing but without pulling out any of the blue that there was in the sky. Granted, it took me awhile of turning the filter to find the exact spot because it was not an ideal situation for the polorizer. I just basically made do with what I had:)

Hope this helps,

Jim

A lovely, peaceful scene.
Question: Why the polorizer? What did it do for the scene? I have alwys been told a polarizer is not useful when the sun is that low in the sky, so I've never tried it and would like to know what the advantage is.
