Nice to meet you, Luke!!! What a great result with BW mode!!! I've never tried it. Actually, I do prefer the channel mixer, or the "themagefactory Convert to BW" filter for Photoshop. If you email me, I can send it to you. Cheers... and thank you!! Carmem

This is amazing considering you took it yourself. The tones look excellent with great contrast. I like how you have the background whited out so well without photoshop. Nice friendly pose. Sharp focus. An excellent self-portrait, Luke. Well done. )

Very nicely done. The way the top of your head has been cropped off makes me feel you are trying to look through the window at the viewer...too cool. You have kind eyes.

Excellent portrait, especially because you feel comfortable, as you are explaing in the "about" and it really shows. I've posted too some ironic self-portrait and some serious one, and I think it's always a problem to find the right combination of lights, posture, relax. Many compliments, Luke, for this "hidden" light on your soul. Regards. Lodovico

Thanks for the critique Stephen. Take your tripod, set it up between 8 - 12 feet from your intended space. Shut off AF and compose the frame leaving room for yourself. Think about DOF and cropping so that you can maximize your use of the frame. Keep trying until you get it "right".

A great example of portraiture!! But the inevitable question on my mind...Focusing. In the self-portrait, just how do you get it right?

Marion, I know that we are all busy people. This happens to be one of the SP that I actually like. Looking forward to seeing more of your beautiful work.

Hi Luke! Good to see you again :-) (sorry for commenting so little lately, I hardly have time to be here). I think this is truely a wonderful self portrait. You can see and feel that you were really relaxed here. The pose, the light, composition are all perfect. Great job! :-)

This is a wonderful portrait. I can imagine you setting the self-timer and scurrying back to the chair in time. And still you manage to look relaxed. Very very well done.

Interesting levels--a lot of grays, but a nice variation and contrast. Impressive work using only windowlight.
