Lavendu you still there? Just re-read your comment on this and realised there was a massacre here. The place is called Purakaunui which could be read as "stacked fire wood". The name refers to the grizzly find of bodies stacked in the snow on this beach one pre-european winter some time ago. At a distance the people who made the find thought they were stacks of bundled reeds used to start fires. One person survived by climbing down the cliff above these rocks.

dog rock water John. :) But add Newfoundland Labrador cross, salt and whatever fascinating thing happened sometime before. There are some nice things happening to the rocks here. Afraid I don't know exactly what but "Rolly was here".
