About
We had an interesting and diverse Sunday afternoon. It started at Swedish Day 2005 - a Midsummer Celebration in Geneva, Illinois. Here a piles of 112 year old rudders and masts.
This Viking ship they had on exhibition is an exact copy of the ship dug out of a mound in 1880 at Gogstad, near Sande Fjord, Norway. It traveled in 1893 from Bergen/Norway to New London/Connecticut in 44 days and arrived in Chicago at the World's Fair on July 12th, 1893 (http://www.naha.stolaf.edu/archivist.htm).
Picture details: Aperture: f5, shutter: 1/100s, focal length: 70mm, no flash, no tripod.
Did you have something like this in mind, Doug? The crop makes a pretty non-standard aspect ratio as I did not want to loose the wood ?end pieces? on the left and the right.
I like this crop as well, but it is definitely a ?different? picture.
Thank you for looking and leaving a comment. Jürgen
