Oh WOW I just commented on an earlier version of this and was wondering how a more recent image would look. I knew it would be busier than the first. So much more traffic. YOu guys will have to put up traffic lights soon. :)

Hi Audrey,
Good to hear from you again, been a long time.
Let me explain what that image is. That is a 2 second snapshot of the portion of the network here where the usefilm.com server is located.
Each of those little white numbers (hard to see so small) is a connected computer from the outside world.
You see many large white rings or circles, those appear if there is more then 1 connection from the same network. So there is a ring for AOL, Earthlink, etc... Connections from a network with only one are shown just as a single IP address number. But each number is equal to a persons computer.
Next the blue lines show the type of traffic. Blue indicating a connection to the web server port 80 so each of these blue lines is basically a connection to the usefilm web server. This is across a 2 second period so you can see it is quite busy.
Where the blue lines converge is the IP address of the usefilm web server on the local network here.
There are other colored lines show which are different traffic types like DNS, Chat, connections to the SQL database servers etc.
While this picture is kind of neat to look at, it isn't all that useful any longer as the network is so busy it is hard to see anything. But it is interesting to see where all the traffic is going or if there is a problem. Never want to see this view with only a few blue lines. ;=]

I feel pretty dumb here, everyone else seem to know and understand what they are looking at...me..I see lines and circles going everywhichway making a unusual abstract pattern. Ah, all those white bits are numbers ?!

Michelle, things are going good, you should stop by when you get a chance if you are still in the area. Studio is almost up and running, still doing a lot of construction, maybe some day it will be done.

I think I see my IP server's address down about 5:00 o'clock.:-) A really cool shot, Phillip. There should be a section on the front page to post this so everyone could see it. I worked in the computer and networking fields for years and I find this very interesting, so I'm sure many others would also.
