About yep! Believe it or not I had to turn the volume DOWN on this one!! Such was the brightness of the day and the vividness of these flowers if I had posted the original colours I might have given the likes of my good friend Roger an attack of apoppyplexy!!

Still, I hope you like the mix of greens and reds!

Best regards to all,

Chris

P.S. The shot was taken in the grounds of Athelhampton House, near Dorchester.

But you had a polarizer screwed on ? No ? Very attractive the vivid colors, I think they stand out so nicely because your black background, a clever way to accentuate the impact of those strong colors.

Carsten

Of course I believe you. Would you MAKE UP an account of actually turning down the saturation? The one thing is as unlikely as the other. You may have stopped the turning down a wee fraction too soon, but you still get top marks for effort from me, Chris. Sorry I missed this with the busyness of our office move.

Thanks for your kind and detailed comment, Arwa.
I certainly see what you mean about the bush but I was attempting to get the same width of 'free space' all around the poppies and a crop from the right, however, small would have ruined the symmetry. (The composition, by the way, is just as I took it ~ no crop in PS.)
Thanks again.
Best regards, Chris

The light is gorgeous! The strong sunlight seems to be also reflected to the flowers from the surroundings, maybe a white wall or light floors?
Excellent composition and the black frame shows off the brilliant colors beautifully
Nice use of aperture because the tall leaves in the background are nit distracting and they complement the image, but the bush in the foreground is a bit distracting, I wouldn?t crop it out completely as it gives depth to the image but reduce it by a minor crop from the right
What do you think?

My goodness without reading your About I would have thought you saturated these guys till they cried stop. Amazing that this is a toned down version. Whatever, it is gorgeous! The vibrant colours and contrasts are fabulous. Very striking.

And I still need sunglasses Chris! What amazing colours they must have been!!! Well composed image with the positions of the flowers almost suggesting that the one on the left is holding court over the group to the lower right... Well seen and taken

A very nice composition with wonderful vivid colors, Chris. Even if you did have to turn the saturation down! You did a great job of retaining the detail in the bright reds. Best wishes and thank you for your generous comments, Larry.

I can just hear Roger now ;-)
He certainly woukd make something of the saturation.

I do like the composition on this, but its the vivid colours which win out screaming for attention.
