About In this photo the "about" is the important part. Israel is preparing to disengage from the Gaza Strip. About 8.000 people live on the shore-line bordering with Gaza and many of them, some for religious and other ideological reasons, some for practical reasons, having grown up there etc. are against the disengagement and quite a few people who do not border on Gaza sympathize with them for one reason or another. There are those who believe that all of Palestine should be Jewish, others who are afraid that the disengagement is a gamble, that it will not bring peace but only bring the Palestinian rocket-launchers and mortars closer to our major cities. Nobody can really predict the developments after the disengagement and those opposed to it have chosen the orange color as their symbol. Some wear orange shirts, others, like the owner of the car in this photo, express their doubts/opposition by tying orange ribbons either to their cars or to the porches of their homes.

Very infomative About, Rafi. Sometimes people take for granted the safety and certainty they live in. You remind us that some people don't even have a country to call their own really and that decisions are often made for them that have incredible ramifications on their lives. The unsettled feelings must be very stressful. Hopefully peaceful outcomes and tolerant minds will prevail.

Hello, Rafi,

My heart goes out for Israel, There is so much dispute in that country, and has been for so many years. It is probably the country with the most political and religious turmoil in all of history, as far as I know, and it doesn't look to be getting any better.

But great photograph, Rafi. It is very striking, and the bright color grabs the attention. Thanks for sharing about what the ribbon is about.

And I actually was refering to your friend in the photo, in the comment I made about 'friend at work', and in my excitement to use that word, I might have been mistaken. I was under the impression that it meant 'kindness' and it looked to me like your friend in the image might have this quality. I'm sorry I didn't communicate that very well.

Well, great job, and I'll look forward to seeing more of your future photos. :)

-Kevin

It is lamentable that still in the world happen things like these in that people are killed by one or another reason :(
But is sad and real, here was the same for 25 years of terrorism.
SHALOM my dear friend God bless you
