Lovely. Slow speed can do wonders to an evening shot.

Very nice one.

regards,
ken.

Excellent photograph Ade, this spot looks pretty familiar :-)

I wonder if you took any shots down the alley to the left of this picture ... this is a spot I need to come back to - particularly if it is raining like this as the detail in the cobbles is wonderful.

Best wishes,
Steve

What was that woman on!!!

We imigrants to Leeds are all nice and polite.... then you meet a native :-)

Was well gutted when I posted the shot and realised that I'd resized the shot in IRFANVIEW with the jpg quality at 48/100... I usually use 90!

The dodge and burn layers are my main tool :-)

and I also do separate curves layers for skies and the foreground. High contrast on the clouds (like Marky Evans) and slightly less on the ground. You use a Grad on the layer mask to get the transition smooth.

once you've got the mask right for the sky, you can then load that "mask" from the "Selection" menu, press CTRL+SHIFT+I to invert it, and that selects the rest and leaves the sky :-)

my good deed for the day done :-)

beer then :-))))

Plonker!!! Those artefacts were the first thing I noticed! Most un-McFade like to have done that!!!
Nicely worked over Ade.... Ive been playing with dodging and burning technique this morning - finally figured it out (slow or what!). The reflections and lines are way better than I remember and the photo is all the better for it! Just one question... You're not doing another of those bl**dy history of Leeds things again are you? ;-)

DOH - just realised that I had the JPG compression to high on this when i shrank it. the sky has artifacts all over it !

Still, hope you can overlook that and see the lovely patterns in the pagement all the same :-)
