Hi Arwa You have asked for honest straight in the face critiques so here goes. Initially the image does catch my eye and I wouldn?t have noticed the addition of the little boy without you hinting in your about section. Sorry to say I did work it out tho, without reading the comments J Without taking away your obvious joy at such a well manipulated image I have to say, the problem I have with the image you have created, is more to do with the moral dilemma, regarding fabrication of truth/reality in an image such as this. The categories that you have entered the image into, portrait, children and particularly street, lead me to believe that this is a photo journalistic representation of an actual event. I realise that in this case the image was a bit of fun for you and I fully understand that, now heres the ?BUT?? BUT This image is clearly not a real event and as such, in future, you owe it to yourself and your viewers to be open and honest in your representations. You should state that an image such as this is a ?digital composite?, or ?digitally manipulated? and categorise it in ?digital? or even ?photo art? or just say in the about section that its just a ?bit of digital fun? I don?t have any issues with digitally manipulating images for a better look or for fine art but the viewer needs to be told. And finally there are legal implications for creating an image such as this. I recall recently that the divers image created a moral dilemma as the girls in the background didn?t want to be included. Did you ask the permission of the boy to be included in this image? If not then you open a minefield of legal issues. And remember this fact, you are a very good photographer with a great eye for an image and a great mind for a good photo, and I know that you can get this sort of shot without creating it in Photoshop. And I apologise for being open and honest. I hope you can take this on board and still be my usefilm friend. J Cheers p.s If you do a google search on photo manipulation ethics you will see quite a bit of debate on the subject. Heres one example from the National Press Photographers Association in the US. http://graphicssoft.about.com/gi/dynamic/offsite.htm?zi=1/XJ&sdn=graphicssoft&zu=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nppa.org%2Fprofessional_development%2Fbusiness_practices%2Fdigitalethics.html

Very nicely done, Arwa! I like Amna's brighter version, too - more detail in the little boy and his surroundings. I think I would prefer to see a bit more room at the bottom to give his feet some room.

excellent work.. love the merger of the two images.. the only thing I would suggest is that the boy and the stairway be a tad lighter.. seems like that is the main focus of the composition but the bright light from the opening on the right is more dominant and distracting... great PS work...

Dear Arwa it is hard to notice that you merged 2 photos in one, you did it very professionally. You asked for honest critique and here it is ;-) Well I like every thing in this photo except the lighting, the tone is beautiful and so is the composition however, I find it a bit dark. I think brighten the photo a bit will help to bring out the wall texture and the background behind where the boy is sitting. It will help to observe the situation and the environment the boy is living in , which I think the purpose of the project you working on. I did some one and here what I did to explain what I wrote above

Thank you toni!!! The only problem I faced was that the step in the background was much higher than the one he was originally sitting on so I had to crop out a lot of the foreground and add light to distract from the abnormal flouting of the feet lol thanx for the comment :)

Very well done! The tones are great here. The little boy appears very small becuase of the tall composition here and he looks a bit sad. You're presentation is very different from your usual. I don't think I've seen you frame your images quite like before and there is a signature. Very nice job! :)
