On the contrary I believe the red boa or whatever is what grabs the eye. I also like the way you utlized the wall as a prop & lead in line to Kenya. Nice one Kelly, cheers.

David, Thank you...yes, I do blur the background and I dislike my camara very much, problem is...Im saving for a real one, and I am extremely impatient. These shots are my notebook. Something to refer to when I get the new camara. You talented folks here in the critique gallery are a tremendous help to me, with deciding which ones to reshoot, even though they may not look the same. I would like to thank all of you...Im having a blast here!

you definitely have a very good eye for composition and interesting portraits. I can see that in many of your photos you are "fighting" the extreme depth of field thos point and shoot cameras have. As versatile they are the look just doesn't work well for portraits. But bluring the background (as you do) often works fine.

Great photo. I love space you chose for this photo. Other than the red, the photo almost appears to be black and white. Very powerful.

I don't think the red is distracting and I agree that it made the thumbnail stand out! What a great shot, especially consideriing this is for all intents and purposes a point and shoot camera!

The reds really made the thumbnail pop. I think the reds work in the picture because the lines in the brick lead you right to her face. I like this shot.
