Ian - you may want to be a bit more carefull. Here in Los Angeles we have a mountain covered with trsnsmitters such as this. The combined electric fields can be enormous. Using an unshielded electrical device such as an old cell phone or test equipment can result in them getting fried. Its a bit like putting your camera into a microwave oven. Your camera is just another electrical device upon which these fields can impress themselves. If they do it softly we see nothing, with more empasis you see visual artifacts, get close enough and parts can start to fail. Closer still and you start heading towards "well done".
