Roger I like this image..I can see why you like the wide angle lenses..I enjoy seeing the culture in Japan as I've said before 'through your lens'. It looks like the calming moment in the midst of an otherwise busy time..I like the lighting, yes it's a little bright in the foreground, but it almost has to be to allow us to see the detail in the background..so I think you did a good job here, I like the shoes, it's a part of the culture, and it seems very fitting in this image...in fact it adds an element of interest and excitement if you ask me....:):)Linda

You know what I think, Roger? The fishiness here does a great job indeed. But of course, in your hands.....everything comes out perfectly! A.

Antonella, thanks for that encouragement. I thought you might be interested to see what it looked like after the fishiness of the image is removed.

Thank you for showing this picture, Roger, for us the cerimony of tea has always been something very intriguing. Fantastic how this lens can contain so many details of the scene. Cheers, Antonella

Yes, Paul, I just HAD to have the shoes in. I tried de-fishing the image, but it stretched the shoes out to twice their length. A very odd effect. So I compromised with fishy curved support poles. I have another shot of a row of kids' shoes on the beach, all tidily lined up on the beach tarp! Funny!! One day I'll take all the shoes in our entrance porch (three boys, all with big feet, me, and their Japanese mother's tiny shoes!).

shoe sale? :) very nicely captured.. if it were not for the shoes, I would have said that you should have gotten closer but the shoes add a lot to the image.. interesting seeing the different dress of the people in the ceremony.. good work

A great one for your Japanalia collection. Would not be as half as good without the shoes !! :-))

The fish eye lens suits really suits this one. It somehow draws the attention to the main event. Gentle picture. Mary

This was a 400 ISO film I exposed at 800 and had "push" developed. I did what I could with the overexposed parts, but they were almost as bad as digital images! I'm glad it turned out as well as it did...

Super fisheye, love it. Nice details in the dark part, a tad overbright in the front. The row of shoes is a nice detail. Great work my friend.
