About Fun with water! This is my first attempt at one of these. I know I need to work on the overexposed areas. Perhaps a different container would help.

Thanks Anna! These shots require a lot patience. Here's what I did:
I took a clear glass bowl and put it in the sink. Then I turned on the faucet just enough so it would drip every couple of seconds. Then with a fast shutter speed I snapped and hoped I was fast enough to get the drop. These shots require a lot of light. In my later shots I used a flashlight directed right at the drop--that way there was some definition to the drop.

I look forward to seeing what you come up with! :)

It 's a dream of all my photo life- to make the shot like this. How did you do this?Excellent!

Love this work Laurie. I need to get the water on and play too. I love the exact moment you captured - when the water is full of life and about to fall apart. I feel that way some days. :) Thanks for your comment on "Reluctant to Wake". I always appreciate your comments.

Linda,
Thanks for your kind comment. These water droplet shots are tough. I think I've taken about a million pictures so far just to get a few that turned out ok! :)

Thanks Joe! I used a large glass bowl (pyrex) in the sink. It seemed to work pretty well, but there's little bit of glare. I don't know how plastic might work, but I may try that next.

First attempt?! Awesome Laurie... since this is so much better than any of my droplet shots, mind if I ask what kind of container you were using? So far, I've only used the sink (heheh) and some small saucers and bowls, and I haven't had a keeper yet...

Thanks Kate! I took tons of pictures before I got a couple that were pretty good. I had a lot of trouble with these, but hopefully practice makes perfect. :)

Thanks Paul! I took your suggestion and tried an additional light source (I used a flashlight) and the result was a lot better. Still not perfect, but better. I'll post the new ones sometime in the next couple of days.

excellent!... I have ben wanting to try this for a long time but never get around to doing it...I don't think the image is overexposed at all.. but, the drop does not stand out against the background. Not sure how you could fix this.. maybe use a second lighting source directed at the drop. A different container may help as well.

Lovely composition and texture, the colours/tones are also very interesting - it's a superb abstract. Well done.

Hii!
Drops are tricky! I remember trying them a while ago not easy at all! I tried them with the help of a friend of mine who I have no idea where he is now! Maybe joined another photo forum
Oh well
Heres his portfolio he shares a lot of techniques
Enjoy
