About I took this during a recent trip to Budapest. I debated cropping a bit of the night sky. Actually, I'm still debating. Any opinions?

I will admit that people are not as openly friendly as they were 3 years ago (I don't get invited to strangers' houses for tea as often--but it still happens). Earlier this year, I went to a Syrian national rally shortly after Harriri was assassinated in Lebanon. I was a bit nervous at first, but was actually welcomed by many people. While there were certainly people who were angry about American intervention, there were also many people who thanked me for attending. For the most part, people can see the difference between me and my government. Syrians are generally polite, if not generously hospitable to Americans.

Thanks for the nice comments Pat. I shot it using a night portrait setting with the flash turned off.

I absolutely love living in Damascus. It's a wonderful place. I've been here three years and will be here next year for a fourth.

Cheers

Hi Lee Ann,
I also like the way you cropped it. I think cropping the sky would love the feeling of being stretched across a river.

Gorgeous Lighting and very well composed Lee Ann! I would leave it cropped the way it is. Had you shot it landscape then maybe.

Wow... Damascus, How do you like it there?

Thanks for the compliment. Hmmm...hadn't considered cropping the sides. It makes me feel a bit claustrophobic, yet is compelling. Thanks again.

Nice shot!!! Great view/angle/perspective, good composition... well done!!! I my opinion you should crop, but not the sky.... left and right is the way to go, so that you get an even more elongated look...in my opinion that is.... ;-D!!
