Thanks Riny. This was shot from a bean bag from the window of a Land Cruiser. Focus was set to manual when it was perched, and the shot was made as he took off while holding the camera steady.

Excellent capture! What a gorgeous coloured bird... I don't think I've ever seen a Lilac-Breasted Roller before. I like the DOF with the bg blurred but the bird, perch and weeds in focus. As well, nice composition in the frame.
