What a wonderful image, full of hope and honesty. I think I missed this one when it initially came out. Good bokeh, few distracting elements. Another winner, Kim.

hehe so cute they look a bit pained at the indignity of being "planted" but I am sure they don't really mind as long as they are loved. Which they obviously are. Yep great prop idea.

Very cute photo, Kim. Very cute indeed.
Not sure if the pups enjoyed or thought you were being cruel, but it's a nice shot anyway.
Nit-picking a little bit, if there is one area for improvement, I guess having their noses also in focus (as well as the eyes, which already are sharp) would be a bonus.

Doubly cute! (has anyone said this is cute?) I agree with Stefan that a little more light on the eyes would be nice. The pots really are a great prop - seems to fit the slight 'silliness' in their expressions! :)

They are so huggable(word?). Nice photograph and thanks for sharing. A smile is always welcome on a rainy windy day...

Kim this is truly an adorable image. I like the expressions on their little faces. The one on the left is like, "can we quit now," hehehe, the one on the right is a little more tolerant....I Like the DOF and you did a beautiful job of focusing the attention on these cute little bundles...it's nice to see this kind of image, because it's refreshing and you know that it probably makes most people smile, and that's always a nice thing...all the best, Linda

Great shot. The pose and perspective give it instant "cute" appeal. I'd prefer it to be a bit sharper (eyes in focus), and toning down the hot spot at the top would help too.

Thanks for the comments Mary-Sue... I am still working on getting more stock photos of Golden Retrievers in hopes of getting published in a calendar. I am hoping to get out to another breeder in May/June for another outing so I will have to look for a bag of bright coloured balls... I think Ikea has some nice ones! Thanks for the suggestion of getting rid of the brighter bokeh in the top centre... seems to be a distraction for a few people. Stay tuned for more puppy shots!

I think that maybe the "rules" of people portraits should be applied here, or at least it might help improve the shot: focus on the eyes, a little more catchlights? I would clone the bright spot in the background, but otherwise I really like the sprinkling of out-of focus reflections there.

Thanks for the comments Pat! I am hoping to send off a bunch of Golden shots to a calendar company or two in hopes of getting some published. I think I missed this year's deadline, so I'll just have to visit more litters of puppies this year and get more shots for next year.

Kim, this really hits high on the cute-o-meter!
Are you still working on the Golden Retriever calendar? This would be a great shot for it...appealing subject, solid composition, great separation from the background, etc. If you really are thinking about publishing or selling this image (and I think it is very marketable), you might consider cloning out that one bright bokeh spot near the center top edge.
This makes me want to dig out our puppy shots of our beloved pooch!
