Cheryl, I must have to have a higher Photo Shop. Mine doens't have a channel mixer. I just looked every where. Then I tried another way to soften then color and couldn't figure it out. I'm bummed...

Thanks so much for the mini lesson. I'm going to go and try it. I just learned how to do a duplicate layer and do the filters so I'm sure I can figure this out. Thanks again.

In Photoshop, I duplicate the layer and then go to channel mixer to desaturate (much more control - just remember to keep the magic number 100% total, I do an 80 Red, 10 Blue, 10 Green instead of the default 100 red, but play with it and see what you like - light will have a lot to do with it). Then when you've done that, drop down the opacity. You can also take the eraser and change the strength down and erase the grey layer where you want even more color - this is also a way to do the "selective color". It's easy after the first time, I promise. :)

I have yet to experiment, or know how, to bring back in a bit of color. I have seen it though and love the effect. I just hvae to figure it out. I'm assuming it has something to do with transperancy?

I love this one Angela. It would be a spectacular shot with a little color brought back in (soft pastel feeling). Have you tried that with it? She has so much personality in this shot - I bet those eyes are to die for in color too. How can you tell her no? :) Feel so bad for her parents - all she'd have to do is turn on that smile... LOVE THIS.

Thank you so much Zafar. I truley appreciate your comments. I'm still learning all about tones and contrast and like to hear how I'm doing with it. This is also my first time with such a tight crop. Thanks again.
