About as I was shooting landscape shots today I took a detour to a friends home near Heliwell Park. He had given me permission to photograph his place that he built about 8 years ago. It is sunk into the hill partially so that it would integrate as much as possible to the surrounding beauty of his amazing landscape. I think it is a fantastic home one of many with unique styling here on Hornby Island

This guy sure succeeded in the design of this place Tim. It's certainly well hidden and fits with it's surroundings perfectly. Super capture and thanks for sharing.

What a wonderful place, it certainly is 'at home' with it's surroundings. Great composition Imagine it is a hard place to find your way to in the dark LOL

Hey Jim you can rent this place if you want..it sits on top of a hill over looking Heliwell park. it is spectacular a dream location for shooting birds wildlife and super amazing landscape shots of wind swept trees.....and anything else that strikes your fancy. i would rent it in the off season the clouds are way more interesting as is the island in general.
here is the web site for renting it if you want to see:

Wow this is way outta sight. how the heck does he mow the roof ? Should have a goat.
Actually , All kidding aside, This is a really a kewl place.
If up to me I would have my house in the South side of a hill with southern exposure at least half buried, heck let the earth heat me with its average 51 degree temp.
Good shot of this place and thank the guy for letting us see it !!

Roger i think this is as straight as you can get in this setting...it is situated on the top of a hill over looking the park that i have been shooting in the past images.....nothing about this area is straight.....as you can see.

A lovely home, and a beautiful setting! But as a fantical straightener of pictures that aren't hanging exactly straight, I can't help noticing the slant to the right. Makes me feel giddy!

he has artistic tendencies but his real art is doing whatever pleases him and maintaining the bank account to keep his interests accessible. this home is overlooking heliwell park...quite the view....the reason he built it this way was so that if you are in the park looking up to his place you won't see it and yet he can see all of the park at the same time. a bit of a camouflage job

very interesting architecture. I suspect the owner is either an artist or an architect. Nice shot Tim

A fantastic way to immerse yourself into your surroundings, Tim! A beautiful shot, showing that, especially the garden roof.

A very creative home, even though buried, it looks like it receives lots of light. You have captured this beautifully. Alison
