I'll take a shot at this since I have shot a bunch of fashion. The reason why this should not or would not go in a book is because of the way her stomach looks. She is not a fat model but if you look the pose causes her sides to wrinkle together. Normally that's why you wouldn't use a pose like this for an outfit like that. The pose is fine, the clothes don't work as much. The angle of the light hitting the face esp the nose makes it too hot. Also I would want her sitting up a bit more so you lose the overly cranked neck but still keep the nice pose. Same look, same model, same makeup but different clothes and this shot would work a lot more.
Chris, I'm not a fashion photographer, but I think you pretty much hit it on this one. I like everything about it. Sure would like to see what Artie would say about it!
