About This stone wall edges the entire cemetery. It is located near Mississippi. I wish I had tried this photo without my flash, I didn't realize it was on then. I was paying more attention to experimentation with dof and focusing on a central stone.

Thanks Melanie - you are right on about this. I've been having trouble using this lens (made for an SLR) and using it on the DSLR. I really have to back up a lot to get things in focus or to get more of the image in the photo - it's very annoying. I hope I can get a new lens for Christmas. I was being cheap and using dh's old one :) BUT, I think I could have achieved the same effect you are mentioning if I had just angled inwards a little more towards the wall. Thanks for your suggestion and all the nice comments - you have a great portfolio!

I really like this shot, Andrea. Very beautiful and moody. If I were to make a suggestion, it would be to take it at more of an angle so you are closer to the wall, whic will ause the wall to move towards the right of the frame and will also make it look more like it is neverending.... if that makes sense??? LOL

Thanks! And great comments! This wall struck me because it was so short, barely above my knees. Yet, it appeared so strong and was the dividing line between the cememtery and the rest of the town. I wanted to show how impressed I was with it and coming down low and following it along, seemed the best way. I did one from the top view too, but this one makes it seem more bold.

I agree the background lines of the wall and ground make nice lines. I like the DOF and the one clear spot on the wall. Very abstract looking feel to the shot. One thing you could have done with out using flash is use an F number around 2.8 to 3, and slower shutter speed but then you have to experimeent and see if it is too bright. I can see you are having fun with the camera and it just takes practice

Cool! Nice way to employ depth of field to create the feeling of mystical eternality in this shot. I like the way the wall and the ground form three converging lines, too. Good eye there.
