It does look large. The monotone actually increases the idea of dread. This is one heck of a photo.

Hi Stephen Not a funnel web and relatively harmless although its quite large with a painful bite. Body is about the size of a thumb and legs are as long as your fingers so do the math :) Cheers

Fabulous macro photograph David, you are a brave chap lifting stones up and looking for spiders.
Either you have had one too many XXXX or you have been watching Steve Irwin again ;-)
Still a darn good macro photograph though !!
I take it that it isn't a funnel web spider then ?
Best wishes, Steve

100mmm macro with two old nikon sb-24 flashes on stands. The flashes have built in ir remotes. Exposure is guess work and fiddly as theres no ttl sync on those babies, particularly when the camera is a Canon :).

Wow, David, what sort of macro device did this involve? Quite remarkable, so sharp and clear, and a great composition!

ooh, that's a spine-tingling shot. There's something powerful and cold about spiders, and this one's lookin' right at me. :) Way to capture a moment.
