First of all people having trouble with the 10 or 20D is obserd
------------------------------------
Just what I've observed at various sites. The photos tend to be more fuzzy, the colors a bit off, compared with say a 300D. And the 10D and 20D are supposed to be superior to the 300D. But this photo, I said, was not like those. It looked clean.

Anyone can shoot a flock of gulls on a beach and without blowing the whites
------------------------------------
I don't know what you're referring to about 'whites'. I didn't say that this photo was 'hot' or 'blown out'. A closer shot of the bird might be something one would want. That's just what I said. In addition, I suggested a different background. These are just suggestions. People suggest things with my photos. Sometimes I agree, sometimes I don't.
------------------------------------
------------------------------------
why would you want a closer view?
------------------------------------
You would see the detail of the animal, and its expression even. Toward the camera, to the side, there are all sorts of angles.

shoot within there means and this is a nice example of knowing ones limitations and staying within them.

It's a Canon dSRL. I think it could handle the job.

I suggest you get a real camera . . . your portfolio shows me nothing a child with a throwaway could not do.

You completely lost me, here. Are you criticizing every last photo I've posted, without exception? That doesn't seem to be the general run of comments. Is your complaint that I have simply used the wrong cameras, in your opinion? Or have you offered some constructive criticism on how I might improve any of these? I am very willing to learn from those who know what they're doing.
seems like robert has done all the talking :) Nice experimental shot! I wouldn't go any further into the bird as the cloud is nicely framed with the seagull.
I dont see your comments making much sense here? First of all people having trouble with the 10 or 20D is obserd, First of all they are the most used prosumer digital cameras period. I dont know what you are judging but your not much of a judge! This is a fine shot considering he is using AI servo for the first time which can be kind of tricky, try to shoot a bird in flight and then make that statement, as shooting birds in flight is the single hardest thing you can do with a camera, and Av mode along with AI servo is a must. Anyone can shoot a flock of gulls on a beach and without blowing the whites, how you could do that with a point and shoot is alien to me. and what does "for a gull" mean, a bird in flight is a bird in flight, a white bird is one of the hardest yet this one is exposed well. why would you want a closer view? the perspecitve here is fine, people have to shoot within there means and this is a nice example of knowing ones limitations and staying within them. there is plenty of detail on the bird It may be slightly hot but I see feather detail and nice beak detail. and why would anyone want a different background? the nice blue sky is perfect. I suggest you get a real camera and as I would really like to see a shot of what you are speaking of. until then you should just try to comment and not critque as you have nothing to refrence your judgements on. your portfolio shows me nothing a child with a throwaway could not do... Regards...
Trying out the camera? People seem to have trouble with the 10D and 20D, at least judged by photos posted to various photo sites. But this is pretty good. It's more of a record shot. But it's still good, it's clean with good color. For a gull photo, one might perhaps want it closer with detail of the bird, or with a different background.
