About This is an aircraft mounted on a pedestal in a park near my home. It's a T-33, which was used for many years as an advanced training aircraft in the Canadian Armed Forces for many years. This one is painted in the colours of the Golden Centenaires Demonstration Team, whose logo is just discernible on the fuselage.
Notice the exposure, and I still couldn't get a complete silhouette!

amazing image, dramatic angle and use of the sun into the frame, the result is like the plane flying right now and you...also being to the air fallowing it and shot it, great silhouette and at the same time GREAT the use of the flash to support the lines and the name of it...golden...
I like a lot the way the glass viewed under the sunlight.
Best regards!

Striking composition; the way the light pours into the cockpit, but just etches the other edges is effective too.

I think it looks better for not being a complete silhouette - a bit of reflection and detail here and there gives more weight to it. At least I could tell it was Canadioan for instance.

Have you got Manual mode on the S5000? If so, and still want to get a silhouette, go int manual and just keep taking shots and reduce the shutter speed each time till; the subject goes black. You'll get some cracking skies this way too.

Cheers

Ade

One of the earliest aviation images I have (as a B & W print) is of a T-33 at Greenham Common at one of the Airbase airshows in the early 1970's before it became a Nuclear Base for cruise missiles.

The image was fairly awful taken with an old Kodak camera.

This one you've posted is a much better image!!

Another thanks for commenting, Larry! They're really appreciated! I took this at 200 ISO, which is the lowest I have on my camera.

Good perspective, Difficult to measure the proper light here, but you managed to let us see details in the plane and still took advantage of the nice sun glare, good job! -- Regards, Rafael

Cool shot Dave I love planes, I still drop the fork and run outside when I hear one. My house is on the 27 ILS intercept route used a lot so they often go right over.
Thanks for sharing

I love the dazzling sun and how it lights up the canopy. In my opinion, there's no need for a complete silhouette. I think there's just the right amount of detail. You always do it right.

Dave, this doesn't need a full silhouette. It needs some detail and you've got just the right amount. It's a very striking image. GREAT!!!

Hey Dave,

This is a really beautiful shot. The silhouette works really well with the planes markings being visible. I would have thought that would make for a better shot anyways, as it gives the otherwise blank shape context. Excellent perspective!

Very dramatic image! The plane is in sharp silhouette. Colors are good. The sun spot draws my attention to the cockpit.
