Roger,
thanks for your comment and advice. there is a slight slant in the horizon line, which i would usually correct. howevr in this image i have dilemma: the bridges that converge onto the opposite coast are not simmetrical and i felt that leveling the horizon completely would give almost equal weight to each. after trying severl times i am still undecided. as for the sky, you are probably right. good proportions call for less sky; i just could not part with the clouds.

The panoramic crop is perfect for this and you might even have lopped a little more off the sky at the top to bring the horizon up to the golden third. Everything seems to be sloping very slightly to the right, though, which detracts slightly from the effect. Lovely panorama, though. (I'm a panorama "nut.")
