It's always nice to just depart from a recognizable image to something more basic. That's the beauty in abstracts for me.

I think Kurt just about said it all, I would add only that the focused parts loom to have some camera shake which if it's handheld at 1/20 is not surprising! Well worth making some more shots on this theme. It is intriguing and it's the subtle threads all around the background which gives the picture it's appeal. Well done on the BIP award Tiffany.

Hi Tiffany. I find this creative abstract quite appealing. The rough texture of the chosen subject material contrasts nicely with the soft, organic geometry of the overall composition. My only (admittedly small) nitpik is that the DOF could be just a little deeper, only to keep a larger portion of the foreground elements in sharper focus, revealing more detail in the texture of the twine.
I can sense in this photograph a metaphor for our lives. One continuous strand, made up of multiple elements and running in and out of focus, sometimes in circles, but creating a fascinating picture. Congratulations on the award. ~Kurt

I really like your composition. So simple, but so much to look at. The background has enough detail to invite you to look deeper - and wonder where it is all going. Great job!
