About I have been experimenting with lighting, I do not have any expensive photography lights so I have been having to make do with what is lying around the house. I wanted to give a feeling that the flower was being bathed in light for the first time, innocent and fresh. The light I decided upon was just a simple ceiling light in another room and this was taken in the doorway so the light hit it from one angle.

Camera settings: white balance to tungsten preset and picture quality to minimum compression. ISO set to 100, tripod used and timer release.

The only PS work here is a slight adjustment to the curves as the original was underexposed slightly.

Thanks for your comments once again Margaret. When I was looking at this image I wondered if it was at all romantic or sensual but to me the flower has such a naive "expression" (sorry, I look at flowers so much I start to see them as having human expressions, very vivid imagination!!) that I found it hard to see it as being sensual. However everyone sees differently and thanks for letting me know what you see.

I am the same, just experiment with what is to hand, I do a lot of my experimenting in the kitchen, [we get a few burnt dinners LOL] and often use torches. I like this a lot I think the dark tones gives more a feeling on sensuality rather than than fresh and innocent, but it is really excellent

Beautifully done James. I used to just use household lighting also. The best ones I found were bedside lamps either with or without coloured cellophane over the light. Also desk lamps that can be angled and also simple little torches and candles. They all give different effects on the subject. Try a few at the same time and you will get even more bizarre effects.

Thankyou also James for your comment on my image.
