Brigitte, thankx for the comments. Reelfoot is one of my favorite places to take sunset pictures. I luv the cyprus trees everywhere on the lake. Theres something funny that happened for me on this visit. Cloud cover moved in during my drive up. Since I was there, I decided to wait it out, and the sun finally broke through for a small amount of time. The picture doesnt show it here, but I used the flash on the camera blocked out with a dollar bill (only thing I had at the time) to create a bit of fill on the reeds near the bank. My print in the studio shows the detail in the reeds.

Phillip, awesome photo....really brings back some memories for me. This was put together very nicely. Love the colors, the way the lake is framed in and especially the way my eye wants to go wander into this photo. The pathway at the bottom leads me into the bigger area of the lake, then it wants to go and explore around the area in the background (the island?). I like the sillouetting of the trees and grasses in the foreground.....goes well with the dusk-mood of the scene. I'm glad you framed this one. Ohhhh one other thing..... the ripple where you tossed in the stone....... I would have thought it was one of your world-record giant crappie fishies that jumped out to say hello to you! :-) Great photo!!

Thankx Kevin for your remarks. I had an 11x14 printed for the studio wall. I really like the area in which some of the photos were taken. I have (2) that I really like, and this is one of them.

Good call on throwing the rock, without the ripples it wouldn't have quite the same "oomph". I like the fine texture if all the trees and weeds against the colourful sky/water, and in particular think this works compositionally due to the "unbroken" vertical belt running slightly left of center. There's some (albeit vague) symmetry both vertically and horizontally which I think is also key to the "structure" of the visual elements. Very nice, all-round.

Sharon, thankx for you comments. I was wondering if anyone would have seen the ripples. The lake was very calm, so I threw a rock out in front of me to make some ripples. I thought they would add a bit of snap to the picture.
