About My attempt at one of Dan's cool projects! Except I used window lighting and sugary water (not recommended!) instead of rain-x.
And the red is the table cloth...

You little star Frank - I've got my first top rated photo (if you filter for the UK, for colour only and for abstracts) I'm fifth! I had no idea you needed a certain amount of ratings to get in there - I've learnt something new today - thank you!

Wow, Sally!

Overwhelming composition, technically perfect. Very artful, I love it!

I think one rating is still missing for being listed in "top photos" so I really like helping a little ;)

Best wishes
Frank

To get the drops to stay in shape - you can rub rain-x on the glass (which is something you can buy from a 'car' shop - it helps rain slide off your windscreen, and stops the inside from steaming up). And then use something a bit 'thicker' than water - here I tried sugary water - but it wasn't as see-through as I'd hoped - which is why the drops look a bit distorted.
The glass was balanced on top of two columns of toilet rolls, and the object (paperweight) was sat on a third colum of toilet rolls directly under the glass. Then I moved the camera around until I could see the paperweight clearly in the drops. I haven't got the hang of flash yet - so I can only do it on very sunny days!
Hope this helps!

Very nice Sally, I really like the reflections of the water droplets. Thanks so much for your recent comments & compliments to my porfolio, in regards to your query for us FILM shooters when you upload an image to this site it suffers a certain degree of added compression regardles how smooth image is when edited thru PS but that aside I've resigned to just let the composition speak for itself. Again thanks Sally & best wishes.

I did one worse - the red bit's the table cloth, and not only can you see it in the lenses - you can see it in the background too! Good job I like it!

Sally, this is simply stunning - lovely colours and beautiful magnifying glass effect and great DOF. James Silcock http://www.usefilm.com/photographer/70115.html did some similar photos, but I like the fact that you didn't let the edge of the background show in the "lenses". An exceptional piece of work. Well done.

Sugary water - excellent inventiveness that produces a fascinating effect! I tried all sorts of dubious concoctions but didn't think of this...

Fantastic, The colours and "painted" looking patterns and shapes in the droplets look great. What I like and I don't know if it was your intention but it looks alot like the flag of India. Great work.
