About
I used this title because it is the first "good" photograph that I made. To understand what makes it so good you must understand that the camera I used was really terrible. It had a fixed focus lens, fixed shutter speed, and a selection of either f/8 or f/11 for the aperture. It was made on old square format 127 roll film without a pressure plate to keep the film reasonably flat. And yes, they actually made transparency film that fit this camera. I have no idea why I tried using it. It was so cold that June afternoon in 1966 when I shot this. The rain started immediately after I tripped the shutter and I had to make the four mile return trip down the trail in soaking wet shorts and tee shirt. This was the last exposure on the roll and the camera was soaked too. The only PS used was to crop the image from its original square format.
Well done! All it takes is one real success like, achieved against all the odds when you're young enough to appreciate it, and you're set for the lifelong enjoyment of photography!
