About This is an alternate crop of a shot I submitted a few days ago. I think it has better balance, but it changes the focus to more of a study of texture, than the removal of the buildings skin. What do you think?

I agree with you - because in this crop the skinless part of the roof is in the very corner of the image, it receives less attention. And I also agree that this version appears more balanced. For an image that puts focus on the skinless part, I would recommend to reframe the shot and move this part more to the center.
