About What do you get when you combine a Coolpix, an 8 inch telescope, a bit of photoshop and a Rebel Yell? In this case, you have a collaboration between myself and Paul Groff. Two previous posts have been combined here to make this image. Paul's August Moon (Quick View ID#4363) and my Edge of Night (Quick View ID# 6925). Thanks to Debbie for passing messages. These collaboration projects are just too cool for words!

Thanks for the compliments everyone. Paul's excellent moon photography allowed me to make this image more than just a pretty background or should I say foreground. Thank's Paul.

Kevin; I made two versions of this photograph. The first had a slightly larger moon that went behind several of the branches. Getting the branches back into the photo over the moon turned out to be more of a challenge than I expected. I presented both images to Paul and Debbie and we all agreed that this photo was superior. Maybe as I gain experience working with layers I will be able to pull it off, but not yet.

I wondered what to name this photo, the moon being from August, the sky being from October. Harvest Moon really isn't all that appropriate. I guess I might have called it Hunter's Moon but that seems wrong as well. Anybody got any suggestions?

Sorry about being so slow to getting around to commenting on this wonderful job you did. I love it. Paul loves it. Love the darkening evening sky and the "harvest" Aug. moon together. I think you picked the perfect moon with the evening colors and did a fantastic job with PS.

What would have been really tricky is if you had gotten it partially behind some of the branches (actually, it'd be pretty easy), but that was compositionally probably about the best place to put it, right in there. I love the colour contrast, tho. Photoshop is fun, eh?

Well then, I guess what the two of you get is a "Stunning" congratulation!
