Yes - the moment you realise you have 8 x 12 hour night shifts and you cannot get out of them ;-)

This is a fabulous photograph Judi, the composition and toning are remarkable. I see the wind vane and it reminds me of the film Twister (with the tornados).

Best wishes,
Steve

Judi, so many of your shots remine me of Texas, this looks like my ranch. Nice shot! All my best, James

Once more you found a way to convey the idea of loneliness via a photo, just as you found the right words for my "Glass" series.
Thank you for both.
Best regards,
Rafi

Yes Judi... I know how you feel.... I've had that a few times. I like this image - for me it is the almost archetypal image of the outback. The toning is spot on and gives it a timeless feel (the outback in itself feels timeless so this is very appropriate!). Beautiful... (and deserving better than 5.5 imho...)

Regards,

Alastair

Judi,
I am in complete agreement, the purpose of an off-centered (rule of thirds) is to add visual impact, interest and some dynamic tension to a composition - not conducive to the mood you are trying to convey.

Yes, I thought of that at the time, but when I put it off centre it didn't have the same feel, so I took it centred.

Very nice composition, Judi! I like the toning you used, it gives the impression of a photo from the past, as does the subject.

I love the tones and the composition, some may complain about the "centered" composition but I feel it adds to the "lonely" mood as it stands.

Great shot!! Love the color and composition!! The title kinda makes me feel sad ('all alone am I, since.....'). Hope the feeling subsides real quick.. but looking at wonderful pictures helps!! Thanks for sharing and goodnight?? (it's almost 2 pm over here so it must be almost midnight 'Down Under'....
