Jim. I will answer briefly but if you want a detailed answer write me at metheny@cox.net After blooming, I continue to water bulbs until spring. In spring I remove the bulbs from the pots and transplant them in my garden. Before frost I dig them. During the summer growth some of the larger bulbs will have generated little off shoots which I save. I store all of the bulbs includint the little ones in a dark dry place (like a paper bag) until mid winter. When I plant the mature bulbs for winter blooming I also plant the little off shoots. I repeat this procedure year after year. The small shoots will mature into bulbs and start to bloom usually in about their 3rd yr. I hope this answers your question. Del.

Beautiful work on this shot, Del. The only suggestion I can think of is to try various lighting angles. I envy your green thumb with the amaryllis. I tried one this past year and all I got were leaves that grew so long they drooped over.

I love your presentation on this one, Del. Using the colors/patterns in the frame looks great! Amaryllis are beautiful flowers. One year I had a bunch of different varieties. They bloomed and during the summer I put them out in the shade. In the fall, let their foilage die down and dry out and put them in the garage. But apparently there was too much moisture still around and when it got cold, they turned to mush. I was so disappointed! I'm glad yours are doing so much better. One of these days I'd like to try again. In the meantime, I'll enjoy the photos you take!

I know this is a photo site but how do you propigate an amaryllis? Inquiring minds (my wife's) want to know.
