The Tatra mountains

my camera refused to work after 15 minutes in this low temperature but it worked an hour or so in -8C so I can say it was good camera

by the way, please do remember not to worm up the camera quicly (especially digital) at it may cause some demage

I took this photo on the 2nd January 2004 on the top of Lomnicky Stit (2632 m i.e. 8,637 ft) in High Tatra (Slovakia).

The temperature was -20 degree C, so after few minutes my camera refused to work :)

The neares international airport is in Krakow (Poland) - 145 km.

Nice photo.........................Opal

Thank you for your comment about my photo
I think the photo is under exposed, the photo lab didn't do a very good job of developing. That is an area along side of the roadway in N.C. where they sow wild flowers, and this field of poppies was beautiful to see, tried to capture on film, did not come out the way I wanted it to. I'll try again when I go up there this coming May.

Excellent picture! THis is my FAVORITE enviroment!!!! I know very well the difficulties of shooting at low temperatures. I used different packs of batteries that I kept in my pockets and my camera was ALWAYS under my jacket. I only took it out to take the pictures and then as soon as possible inside my jacket, maximum 5 minutes in the cold (I was at -15C and windchill factor much lower prob -25). I agree with your advice, if you warm up the camera too soon the moisture will condensate rapidly and rally damage the camera. Beautiful nature up in the mountains, great job! Warm Regards, Rafael

A supurb photo, great subject, and the camera settings were just right. The scenery looking down looks very interesting as well, and if you have more from this vantage point, I think they will be of great interest and beauty. Thanks for sharing.
