I was on a walk in the Peak District in Derbyshire on Boxing Day (you have Boxing Day, right? Dec 26th?). 100-400L was my Christmas present to myself, I only bought 20D in November so was (& am!) still very green with it. I picked a route close to Dovedale which is very pretty, but far enough off the trail so as not to be too busy. In fact I walked for close to 2 hours without seeing anyone else, which was sublime!

I saw this rabbit, at first I mistook it for a rock, then did the 'take 3 steps, shoot, take another 3, shoot' routine. I hadn't grasped the centre weighted '()' exposure mode at the time, or got to grips with exposure compensation. Maybe he/she will be there next Christmas & I'll try again. It was a magical day, I'd like to think I could do it all over again.

Oh dear this is turning into an essay!

Well I love your photos, you mix nature and humour, and powerful emotive subjects very well, that is why I added you to my friends. I look forward to more.

....and I will try and incorporate the commando crawl into my routine, hehe...

My best to you and your family,
Steve.

Hi Steve,
I have low windows in my house and I live on the edge of a forest. I had my camera in "P" mode with the feature of "cloudy day" so that I had a high white balance. Usually, I have two bunnies that come close to dusk and it's hard to get a good photo. This little guy came in the afternoon today. I do what I call the "commando crawl" to the window and make slow movements. How did you manage to get your photo? If you look under your photo I used my photoshop program to lighten your photo. It helps alot!

Oh wow! Angela, you have done brilliantly here! So difficult to get an exposure in snow (my much inferior effort, with 100-400L is below). 8 out of 7! How did you get so close?

Steve.
