Not to say this in repitition, but, Wow. I love your pictures. They have a lot of depth, imagination, and sweat in them. It goes to show what youth and skill can do, and of course the simple time to be able to do these things. I envy your ability to do these hikes! Something I can strive for myself. Looking through your images, you have the stuff.

The best method I found for the conversion would be in Photoshop using the Channel Mixer. Click on the grayscale box and adjust the levels as necessary. This will give you a b&w photo with a lot of depth and endless customization options. Other than that, I would put the D70 in high esteem. I would look on Ebay for a great price, and possibly good packages with more lenses and such. Best of luck! Thanks for the comment.

Thanks for the info Reza. I have shot some colour film and converted to B+W. Which method did you use for the conversion? I have tried several. I think I will buy the D70 soon. Any further advice?????

Other than the B&W conversion and slight level adjustment, there was no work with PS done. The color version of this is very interesting as well, but the B&W brought out the mood of the clouds. I can't imagine how anyone could go wrong with a camera like this. It's quite simply amazing. Best of luck!

Very nice! I love the detail in this shot, and the way the trees and clouds really frame the entire shot. You did great with the contrast and clarity on this one. Great job!!

What a beautiful scene, and well captured too. Did you do much Photoshop work on this???? I am thinking of buying a D70 to shoot colour for a website company, and I wonder about using it for B+W landscapes as well. I currently use an F-80 and B+W film.

Wow, I envy your determination; it's been a long time since I've been on the trail.
Your title made me reflect on 'the want of solitude' and on how some people cloister themselves in silence behind walls. That's easy.
More challenging is to try to find solitude in the midst of a busy day.
Thanks for the beautiful image, and the explanation.
