Hi, Dan! Nice to meet you...
Thanks for the comment on my pic. I have a film camera, so I don't try self-portraits :)
Cheers,
Ana

Hi Dan. As a lover of self portraiture (my whole portfolio is basically me haha) you have done a great job on this one. Love to see fellow usefilm users experimenting with self portraits. Well done :) This shot is dramatic and you have perfect lighting.

Dan, with the hair as dark as it is it would be hard not to make it blend in with the dark background. Maybe try to make the light come down on you instead of straight on. I only say this for those that have a problem with the light on your hair.
I myself think its a great self-portrait. Yes it is hard to do them. I do all of mine and getting the lights and all right to work just how you like can be difficult.
I love the light on this. That is what grabbed my attention in the first place. Great SP.

Very interesting self-portrait too. I like your experiments with a portraits, with a light. It's really should be not easy to do own portrait. You did it excellent.
...will waiting next, good luck.

Great capture Dan, portrait work I think is one of the hardest disciplines in photography. I mean I struggled taking photos of children with "santa claus" ... probably the reason for my rapid hairloss lol (though all the photos turned out ok !).

Hope to see you in June (check your email !)

Best wishes,
Steve

Nice to meet you!
A genre I avoid. But you're still young and frisky.
Not a bad start; lighting is the trick and the tricky part.

Nicoe portret and composition. Would prefere seeing your hand complete, but I'm sure selfportretting is very difficult!
Kind regards
Ellen

The picture is perfect in composition, lights and details, but, you have the expression of a murderer in series planning their next crime, hahahaha!!!!

Dan, the great thinker, thats what this reminds me of.
A nice shot of you, have to agree about lighting the hair, a bit more light there and it'll be perfect.

Very nice. My only critism is your hair is lost in the background making your head look a little flat.

This really does need some rim lighting so your hair doesn't disappear!

Well, you've gone from stern to introspective.
A smile's GOT to be in the queue somewhere, Dan!

impressive dan... avery impressive use of hard light!
also the background is black deep-black!
a strong pose-expression of you my friend.. perhaps only too much "air" on the head and little on the hand. but one great photo..
