Oh I simply love the expression on his face. So natural, so /child/. This is just a magnificent portrait, imho. His eyes, your black and white tones, the overall soft, gentle quality - love it.

So much thought for such a small child, and you did a wonderful job of capturing his intensity in the moment. This is the kind of picture that speaks of a childs inside, very nice!

Thanks Pat, it's good to have input from yet another masterful photographer. I would agree about the eyes, and actually have just been reading about certain selective sharpening techniques for the eyes. Thanks.

This is a great shot! Love the crooked finger and his great expression. I think his eyes could use a touch of sharpening, but wonderful all the same!

Nice, soft lighting to complement the child's rounded features; the clothing is slightly out of focus and therefore does not detract from Reed's face; and his arm and hand bring the viewer's eyes up to his eyes. A VERY nice composition!

Thanks Dina, that means a lot coming from a photographer of your caliber.
Reed's mom is an elementary school teacher, and of course she has shown many of my photos to several of her co-workers. Apparently, I now have several offers, un-solicited on my part, to come out and shoot other children in exchange for monetary compensation. Yikes! I've never done a paying gig before (Reed and family are friends, they just pay cost for whatever prints we pick). Just thought I would mention this to you since your portfolio here and website serve as a great inspiration to me in this new endeavor. Thanks!!!
