no, he was the average young german, unaware what would happen to him after 1933 (so long ago). it's a sculpture made by georg kolbe, a famous german artist in the '30ies. the skull is from a tombstone dating from the epoch after the war of 30 years (1618-48)... very long, very old, very devastating betwen catholics and protestants in germany. history, in a word:))
