About this is a macro shot of a typing rounded tool (each one for each font, here is Italic) which was used before PC and word processor software; this tool (sorry the name in english is a mistery for me) have a name of a flower in italian: Margherita 'cause it is very similar in the idea: a letter for each petal. I like the unfocused part which seems to rotate at high speed as the right function of this tool.
This macro is the first one to test my new reversing lens for Nikon D70 arrived this afternoon.

Davvero bello l'effetto astratto che hai ottenuto scegliendo l'opportuna DOF!

Caio antonio! Buon anno!

ciao!

Ciao, Antonio... here in Brazilian they were called Margaridas...
I?m not sure about the title.. Gates doesn?t desrves such reference... Margarita would be a great one.
I like the motion blur you?ve got.
Good luck with your new lenses!

A great shot. The tool is the ball of an IBM Selectric typewriter. There were many fonts available on separate elements, and they were expensive. Years ago, I had to pry the IBM out of my secretary's hands and convince her to try a PC! The IBM (I think there was a model called "Quiet-Writer.") was noisy--about as loud as my then new Epson dot-matrix printer. I'll bet there are many still in use. Thanks for the memories--and for the wonderful macro . . .

Best wishes,
--george

Hi Antonio, The strongest point in this shot is the perceived dynamism, as if the typeset is rotating; It's a very nice side effect of the shallow DOF. I completely agree with Chad, it does suck you in. The only minor thing is that I don't think the hammers of the typeset are completely in focus. Obviously, the reversed 50mm lens makes it more difficult to focus, and this flaw is soon forgotten, as it is a very good shot...

Cheers,

Hugo
