Wow Thanks for the complement Judy, I think this and all your shots are fabulous, I am always in awe of your creative side in which I seem to lack, you really have a eye for the origial and beautiful and you know how to present it perfectly, I do plan on attemting some abstract and photoart as well as Landscapes, but I think it may take me awhile to reach your level of work If I can... Thanks again... Marcus. oh did you not like my last shot you bypassed it :) just kidding....

Jorg, normally when we enter the aviaries the little quail run and under the foliage and hide. But in this particular case, the hen wanted to stay near her eggs. So I grabbed that chance to get these photographs. Otherwise she probably wouldn't have let me. BTW, glad you liked it.

I tried to photograph Californian quails a while ago and they were so shy I never got a good picture since thea are so darn quick and shy. Were you just lucky or is she your friend? Great portrait, well done. Regards Jorg

Thanks Den. This morning I found that the hen was on the eggs as normal and a male quail was with her. But about 2 inches from the nest was a dead male quail. Extremely unsual for our aviaries. So I would say that there was a fight over protection during the night and one male lost. So sad.

Ahh yes...we have plenty of little babies constantly. These chicks will be about 3cm long (just over 1 inch) and will be self sufficient from the time they hatch.

Thanks Amna. The colour of the egss is a strange one indeed. They are a combined olive/fawn colour but under different lights they vary. She has laid them right under the doorway of one of the aviaries. We have to be so careful when going in and out..LOL!!
