Dave, If I only knew when they would fly again. It was around sunset and I did return the next day but nothing. But it's a good spot with open sky all around to be prepared another day. Marilyn

Nice composition and colours, Marilyn! The others have commented on the technical aspects, and all I can add is that sometimes it helps to have the camera already set up if you are trying for a shot like this, but I realize that's not always possible. Thanks for your comments! Dave.

even though the shot is slightly blurred the photo still has very much caractor, seeing the birds flying in this unusual formation is outstanding, I really like the way you cropped this, the perspective is perfect......

One thing is for certain, I would have missed these completely until after they had all flown over :-)
Lovely photo Marilyn, I am guessing but the noise may be due to a high ISO. If the camera was in shutter priority then it may have dropped the ISO to 200 or even 400 for the capture.
Best wishes, Steve

Den, I think I cropped it too much. This is 1/2 of the V formation they were in. Yes, very noisy. Greatly appreciate your help. Marilyn

Agreed could be sharper Marilyn. Have you blown this one up as there seems to be quite a lot of noise. The amount of blur looks consistent across the subjects so I'd say that you didn't pan them. Then the reduced exposure of the tele lens can give this effect. Hope this is of some use. Den
