You can see long lines of figures and animals on the gable ends of roofs all over Beijing. They are supposed to protect the house ? the more animals the better the protection. This picture was taken in the Forbidden City.

I spent the first week of December 2004 in Beijing. It was a great trip. I saw the Forbidden City and Temple of Heaven on weekdays. Maybe the cold and the workday helped keeping the crows small.
