Den I am truly flattered with your comment. I know the feeling about playing catch up. Yesterday I had about 75 friends images and over 200 comments to reply to....My fingers were numb but after 4 hours I finally got there...LOL!!

Larry..I dream of having some assistance with my work. The amount of images I could then push out would be excellent. But alas, it is only me that is doing them. I carry an idea for a while and build it in my head and then I put it together over a period of a few hours. I have many projects building at the same time, so that is why sometimes I will produce more than other times. I am so pleased you like my work.

Rafi,

"Diophantus is often regarded as the 'father of algebra' but there is no doubt that many of the methods for solving linear and quadratic equations go back to Babylonian mathematics. Diophantus was not, as he has often been called, the father of algebra. Nevertheless, his remarkable, if unsystematic, collection of indeterminate problems is a singular achievement that was not fully appreciated and further developed until much later. Only 6 of the original 13 books survive and the others must have been lost quite soon after they were written. There are many Arabic translations but only material from these six books appeared."

Hope this helps.

Sorry, dear Judi, I was wrong before and just remembered:
the name of the inventer of algebra (he was a Muslim)was Muhamad ibn Mussa Al Quarismi and he called his method "Aljaber wa'l mukabara" which, unless I'm mistaken again meant "the equasion and the transference" and "algebra" is a misnomer for Aljaber.
Best regards and Merry Christmass,
Rafi

A wonderful photo, dear Judi, but we learned at school that the father of algebra was a Muslim called Aljaber, and the methot was called after him.
Thank you for your kind remrak on my "Tiny flowers". The ring-flash has proved its value once more.
Best regards and Merry Christmass,
Rafi

Great composition, Judi. Don't know how you manage to come up with so many different pictures. Are you sure you don't have a staff of 50 somewhere in the background working for you :-) Nicely Done, Judi. Larry
