This is worth getting printed (true bw). It is just a gorgeous shot and she looks on top of the world. Take this to a bw lab and ask them to keep contrast at about 2 1/2, they may need to burn the sky in a little to keep the detail there or even change contrast for the sky to retain the detail - you;ll just love it cos Delta prints like velvet. Shots like this lose it in the scan and really need to be printed the traditional way. I love how she looks on top of the world.

Great B&W, scanning images was always the part I hated about taking shots on film.

Thanks as always for your comments Mark. I must admit, I love black and white photography. Even though I own the 20D I find that black and white film has so much more guamet and dynamic range compared to digital conversions. What I find happens when converting 20D photos to black and white, to get the contrast I like, I lose detail in the blacks. If this makes sense :)
As you have the 300D I'd recommend a cheap elan 50e which are selling on eBay for around £60. If you do decide to shoot any film try www.7dayshop.com or www.mx2.co.uk for film. £1.89 per roll of Neopan acros last time I looked :)

Now i can believe you're a b&w addict .. this kind of shot tell it all .. hue, contrast, tonal range .. mmm, you make me ... i've already seen the Sony takes very good b&w shots in nightshot mode (with or without ir filter) .. did myself a good secondhand deal ;-))
