Hi Artie ma man.. I wanted dark shadows on his left camera right, so I only used one medium softbox camera left. I was trying to create a split lighting effect. I had a strobe on the floor with a blue gel, and barn doors shut somewhat to keep the main light from really lighting this picture up. The lightbox camera left was approx 10' feet away. 3 Lights were used. Power pack set at 750 watts.
I did print this picture out for him, and there is some seperation from him and the fog. With regard to the Amp, I agree, he wanted it in the picture. I felt that it needed something on it to give the shot some balance. I do plan on doing another one of him in the future with another guitar.
some light behind him to seperate from the background....light to camera right to fill in dark shadows on his left side, on the guitar and lap also would help if you raised the left light a little higher...crop out the marshall amp it doesnt add anything....less top also...if you used the medium softbox on camera left you had it pretty far away.....getting there Phil but this should be much better from you...get your brother to sit again and make it more him and his guitar and get a lot more personal...want to count his nose hairs...
