I want advise on techniques for shooting such a subject. Fire Pois are flamming balls on the end of string. Shooting such an explosive variance in light means this is similar to fireworks, but at a closer range. I think i decided on an aperature of 5.6 and fubbled a shutter speed out. Your thoughts and advise on such a project would be appreciated.
Thanks Carla for pointing me in the direciton of another example similar to this. There is a fire poi in each of the persons hands, and also one other person in the background, thats where a few extra fire trails have come from. But the exposure was a few seconds worth, so enough time for a number of revolutions and crosses.
Very interesting how the fire has left so many trails. Something similar to this was done with light sticks, take a look at Brian Steffy's work at http://www.usefilm.com/image/550050.html. Hope you enjoy.
