About This is another image taken at speed. It shows one of the farming dams scattered around the countryside. Often these will be dry but we have had some rain of late. Behind the dam you will see the railway line, that runs quite close to the road at times pulling 40 or more carriages. I am sure I have seen longer trains than that, but my memory fails me this morning.

Even though I see this type of landscape daily I still enjoy the different colour tones and the relationship between the untouched and the technology even in this day and age.

Incredible how you get these shots at speed Judi. I like how this shows what my mental images of Oz are. Can just imagine some Aborigine wandering in on "Walkabout". Love it.

Now that is my kind of speed. We normally travel a bit faster than what we were, but hubby got hit pretty hard last time with a speeding fine, so we played it safe this time...LOL!!

nice landscape.. love the colors.. very beautiful...

I saw the speedometer and realized that I have taken the same type of photos many times.. so here is one in Kilometers (figure it was better to post than one in MPH haha) this was taken on the way to belgium from paris.. not the top speed but probably the safest time to take it... :)

my GF has been to australia before so it is on my list of places for sure...

Mark, we normally see a lot of trains on this trip, but for once, we only saw one, and unfortunatley there was a lot of scrub in between the train and myself, so I couldn't take the shot.

Thanks Stu. I was actually surprised at how these came out also. There are more coming through with the same speed.

Glad to hear that Judo, was worried about you. Must admit that you do "most anything" for a picture!! Right??

Great use of DOF to allow so much detail throughout the picture, Judi. Too bad the train wasn't coming by at that moment. With the tracks in the background, that would have made this picture even better.

Wow this is great and out the window as well, I don't think you can get eny better than this. I thought you were talking about camera speed until I read a few of your comments. I know one of your other shot Included part of the dash but this one has no signs of being in a car and while it's moving.

Larry we have travelled that road many times so that helps to know what is possibly coming up. But when I could see something in the distance I would focus the camera at about the right distance and then wait until it just about came into the frame and then clicked. It usually worked.

We have had recent rains which has made the surroundings quite green. We are still on water rations as the water is very low.

The scrub, as we call it, is varied but necessary, not only for the ground but the stock that is grazed in the area and along the long road.

Larry you are funny. I thought I made it clear that I was a passenger. I drove across Australia in a few days years ago and awoke to see a road side pole right in front of me. I lost my nerve and haven't been able to do extreme distance much since.

Ah, so Damion was driving and you didn't control car and camera at same time then as I was led to believe dear?? :-)) I know the "dark angel" does wonders, but gee!!

How do you concentrate to frame your pic and not end up in the ditch or up a tree? These trees are what my family would refer to as "weeds", worth nothing to no one. Soil from these pics is rather sandy overall?

My father and grandfather all their lives were involved with raising Pennsylvania hardwoods for furniture and mine supplies.

So it rains enough at a time to put water in a dam like this, w/o water soaking into soil so quickly?? soil looks like it would soak up any rainfall quickly??

Just curious about your country Judo :-))

Dave I have included a very rough image of the speedo taken at that time. We had picked up a lot of dust along the way, so excuse the light marks across the image.

Dave. I was only saying yesterday to my hubby while we were driving, that my idea of a perfect holiday is to go away for a week on my own to anywhere in the world with no commitments and be able to take photos wherever and whenever I please.

Unfortunately when somebody else is driving you can't just stop when you want, as was the case with these photos. So it was either I take no photos or I take them whilst driving...LOL!!
