About Hoiho (Yellow-eyed Penguin) sings its ancient song as the sun goes down over Tavora beach near Dunedin, New Zealand.

Its always a privilege to sit quietly and watch these tenacious creatures as they return to feed their young.

After swimming in the wild Pacific seeking food they often have long treks up steep sand dunes and over rocks to get back to their nest site.

The lighting and exposure have resulted in a fabulous capture. I like how you have choosen to photograph from behind and how the colours blend into each other. Delightful.

Very nice John. I especially like the Hoiho's expression and the overall gentle softness of the image, your resisting the digital temptation towards oversharpness and saturation.
